When you start out on a journey we all like to have a roadmap to tell us how to get somewhere. Yet, in life there are no directions to tell us how to get from A to B. We all set out with a goal in mind of how we want our life to go and I have yet to meet anyone who has said the path has gone just as they planned. However, as long as we know where North, South, East, and West are we can at least move in a specific direction.
Journey Creatively, is a consulting company focused on improving the lives of those the company works with. The famous words of John F. Kennedy, “Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country,” was a beacon to inspire a nation into action. Our culture has been inundated with an attitude of “ME“. How does this benefit me? What do I get out of it? If I were the leader, I would do it this way. She doesn’t understand me. How do you lead when the focus is always on the individual? Many times companies and individuals needs a “compass” to guide them.
Journey Creatively, is designed to come along side companies, churches, groups, and individuals to help them become better. Taking time to understand the road traveled to this point and providing customized strategies for walking into the future. As the president of Journey Creatively, I have worked with a wide range of businesses from non-profit to fortune 500 companies providing leadership training and developing organizational strategies. Leadership is beyond instructing others on what to do, but how you invest in your people.
Hello! I am Jenny Taylor president of Journey Creatively, LLC. A compass is so important that they included it as an app on our smartphones. Being able to determine where north is from where you stand is great, but understanding how to put the knowing and doing into action is the key. There are many organizations that know where they want to go, but can’t figure out how to get the team or company to move in that direction. So many times we need an unbiased opinion to bring the fresh perspective and guide us on our way.
I have worked in leadership roles since I was in my church youth group. As I’ve grown and the resume has become stronger, I’ve realized that leadership is not something you do, but it is how you live. Much like living the Christian life, to be an effective, positive leader, it becomes apart of your DNA. But many of us say we are too busy, but really believe it takes a ton of work to be a strong leader that we fail to move beyond reading the most recent best seller book and discuss it with our team, but do we ever really implement changes? What I’ve found is that most leaders hear great ideas, but lack the ability/time to develop a strategy to implement these ideas into their everyday life. That’s were Journey Creatively comes in. Our goal is to customize an approach that will not only help you grow as a leader, but encourage you to think outside the box and become creative. Even if you have no creative bone in your body, we will help you.
A little about me, I grew up as a pastor’s kid in Colorado with my older brother, sister, mom and dad. Yes, I’m the youngest and proud of it. I earned my BA in Bible and Religion from Anderson University in Anderson, IN. I was sure I would not follow in the footsteps of the majority of my family and go into pastoral work, but would serve God in a different way, but didn’t quite know what that meant until I had worked in leadership roles at a few non-profit organizations and began the journey to earn my master’s degree in Global Leadership from Fuller Theological Seminary. By the time I graduated in 2008, the fuzz was wearing off and I knew that I was going to venture into new territory teaching churches how to reach young adults. Through this exploration, it became even more clear that leadership was my passion and working with churches or companies was my goal. Over the last several years I have had the opportunity to bring the creative aspect into the equation by building websites, marketing strategies, and developing leadership workshops. Launching Journey Creatively has been exciting and frightening all at the same time. But the true joy comes when the light bulb goes off and I’m able to see someone or a team learn to use the compass and begin walking towards their goals with the techniques and resources I have taught them.
